Dear Colleagues,

You may be aware from recent UCSF Health communications from Chief Clinical Officer Josh Adler, MD that as of November 21, UCSF Health no longer requires COVID-19 testing for asymptomatic inpatients and outpatients before undergoing procedures, including aerosol-generating procedures (AGPs) such as those involving general anesthesia.

Throughout the pandemic the Office of Research has endeavored to align research-related COVID-19 policies with UCSF Health wherever possible.  Therefore, with immediate effect, pre-visit COVID-19 testing is no longer required for any asymptomatic research participants, including those undergoing aerosol-generating procedures (AGPs).
