Pre-visit COVID-19 testing no longer required for research participants

Posted on behalf of VCR Hal Collard and Payam Nahid, Director, Clinical Trials Operations

Dear Colleagues,

You may be aware from recent UCSF Health communications from Chief Clinical Officer Josh Adler, MD that as of November 21, UCSF Health no longer requires COVID-19 testing for asymptomatic inpatients and outpatients before undergoing procedures, including aerosol-generating procedures (AGPs) such as those involving general anesthesia.

Throughout the pandemic the Office of Research has endeavored to align research-related COVID-19 policies with UCSF Health wherever possible.  Therefore, with immediate effect, pre-visit COVID-19 testing is no longer required for any asymptomatic research participantsincluding those undergoing aerosol-generating procedures (AGPs).

If you have questions, please email [email protected].
